Emerald is Pantone’s 2013 color of the year, and I’m obsessed! I put together an Emerald idea board for some colorful inspiration to start the weekend.

1) As of right now, these are officially on my wish list. They’re perfect for spring!
2) This bride wore a gorgeous gown with emerald beading. Emerald would make a great wedding color!
3) I want to find a spot in my house for this dresser.
4) I love the mint and emerald combination! I could see these as bridesmaid gifts (or a gift for myself!).

Happy Friday!

In an attempt to organize my desktop, I've been going through all of the images I took in the past year. Looking back, I've had so much fun with all of the wonderful people I've had the privilege of photographing! 2012 was a great year full of experience, growth and happiness. Whether it was the lighting, the colors or the moment, here are 10 of my favorite images of 2012 (in no particular order!):

Here's to many more in 2013!

Yesterday we celebrated our wedding anniversary. I love being married to my best friend and sharing life together. The past 3 years have been the happiest of my life and I can’t wait for an eternity more!

HELLO 2013!

It’s a new year! That means new adventures, memories and opportunities are waiting to happen. With the thought of a fresh start, I sat down to come up with a few goals for 2013.

1) Exercise weekly – I need to plan a weekly exercise schedule and actually stick to it. I just need to decide exactly how I want to go about doing this. I don’t like going to the gym, running or playing most sports. Can I exercise while sitting on the couch watching Project Runway?

2) Be organized & clutter free – This is probably the hardest goal. I currently have towering piles of paper and baskets full of laundry waiting to be sorted. I have a few new organizational ideas to try this year. We’ll see how it goes.

3) Read one book a month – I love reading but I usually don’t make it a priority. After a long day of work, the TV remote seems to find its way to my hands more often than a book. I want to change that! If you have any suggestions for good reads, let me know!

4) Grow my business – I know this is a pretty broad goal, but when I tried to get more specific I ended up with a long list. I decided to summarize by simply stating that I want to grow my business. With hard work and a little luck, I’m hoping 2013 will be a big year for growing and expanding my photography.

What are your goals for the New Year?

I have a confession. I've been stuck in a rut for a few weeks. I've been wondering what direction my life and business are headed. Starting a photography business can be hard and frustrating at times. And lately I've been wondering if it's worth it and if I'm up for the challenge. I wanted a break from photography to clear my head.

But then I remembered why I wanted to do it in the first place. Photography is more than blogging and booking clients. I love photography for the ability to stop a moment in time. Photography lets you relive precious memories and make incredible new ones. It's about family and friends. It's about documenting life and love. I want to do it every day for the rest of my life.

So I'm going back to basics and enjoying photography for itself instead of stressing about the business. I'm starting off the New Year with a new perspective. And I'm going to enjoy every minute.
