My adorable nieces are on the blog today! This past weekend we did a mini Halloween photo shoot in their costumes. They had so much fun showing off their princess dresses! I had a hard time picking my favorites, but here are a few.

Since tomorrow I'll be busy watching scary movies and stuffing my face with candy, Happy Halloween!

The weather has finally cooled down and I'm so happy! And by cooled down I mean low 70's (it is South Texas after all). It's nice enough that I'm actually wearing a sweater and scarf today! Inspired by the cold front, here are some of my favorite fall looks.

Hope your day is as beautiful as mine! Happy Friday!

There has always been the debate: Canon vs. Nikon. But to be completely honest, I've shot with both and you really can’t go wrong either way. I’m a self professed Canon girl because my first DSLR was a Canon. I loved it and now I'm hooked. I found this the other day and thought it was too cute! I will definitely be getting one for my office.

I'm a Canon girl and proud of it! And don’t worry, they have Nikon ones too.

Hope you’re having a fabulous Wednesday!

I had the pleasure of capturing family photos for the Mickelson family last weekend. We had to fight against some crazy wind, but we had a good time! Below are a few of my favorites from their session.

One of my favorite trends right now is chevron. Love it! Clothes, furniture, wedding details. It's so fun and modern. At Ben and Megan's wedding this summer, she gave her bridesmaids the cutest chevron clutches. I wished I could have been part of her wedding party!

I put together a little chevron inspiration board for your Friday.

Happy Friday!

I usually choose style over function. I don’t care if a pair of shoes has zero support and is a size too small. If they’re cute and on sale, I’ll squeeze into them! True story.

But when it comes to camera bags, function is everything. I wanted something that was both stylish and functional. I was so happy when I came across Jo Totes. I found the perfect bag that would hold and protect all of my equipment and let me feel girly. It’s cute, mustard yellow and under $100. How can you go wrong with that? The best part is that the inside can be customized. I can move the pads around to create compartments that securely hold my camera and lenses.

I love my camera bag! I recommend it to anyone looking for a girly and stylish alternative. If you’re interested, click here to see more Jo Totes.

Today is one of those days where I can't seem to finish anything. I started with a pretty reasonable to do list this morning, but it's somehow getting longer by the minute. I always start my to do lists with something easy and unimportant so I'm guaranteed to get at least one thing done. Case in point:

I can now say I painted my nails today and feel slightly better about myself. Hoping your Monday is much more productive than mine!

We've been married for 2 ½ years and to this day have only printed 3 of our wedding photos. They hang on our wall framed by the picture mats we used as guest books. And for the past 2 ½ years I've wanted to do something more. As soon as we got our wedding photos, I uploaded them to my laptop and Facebook and now the discs sit in the top drawer of my desk gathering dust. I either haven’t had the time or creativity to do anything about it. Pretty sad, I know. I should have more than 3 prints to show for the happiest day of my life!

Does anyone else have this problem?

I love that we have access to digital images at the touch of a button. But nothing beats printed photos. I've been looking for creative ways to display prints and here are some of my favorite ideas:

Pinned Image

Love this huge mat with a smaller photo.

photos on a wire

Photos hung on wire.

shelves and frames

Shelves with layered frames and accessories.

Really cool layered look.

art wall

Great wall collage using different frames.

A tried and true method. Cut scrap paper to the size of the frame and mark the nail location on the paper. Using painter's tape, move the paper templates around the wall until satisfied. Then hammer the nail through the marks. Remove the paper template and hang!

Hopefully this will give someone a little inspiration!

I live for natural lighting. Okay, that might be exaggerating, but I really love it. Natural light gives the most beautiful, even tones. It’s also the most flattering when it comes to portraits. Which is why I prefer to work outdoors. Of course there are indoor receptions and rainy days that make exceptions. On these occasions I find windows or use a flash. But I've found natural lighting to be my best friend. Here are my top 3 reasons why:

1. True colors. Natural light gives you the truest colors, which means a whole lot less editing later. And stunning images.

2. Even light. The sun gives bright, even light, whereas flash tends to be very harsh. High end flashes are good at imitating natural light, but nothing beats the real thing.

3. Creamy skin tones. It is so much easier to get smooth, creamy skin tones using natural light.

I shoot under any lighting condition, so I'm not trying to convince anyone to have an outdoor wedding. Especially if it's 150 degrees outside. I just wanted to share my obsession with natural light. And now you know why I love it so much!

October is already here! This marks 2 months that we've been back in Corpus Christi. It's nice to finally be getting settled into a routine again. Although I'm not going to lie, I've been missing Fargo and it's cool weather lately. And it's red leaves!

Here are my goals for the month:
- Budget. I failed to do this last month, so it's now at the top of my list.
- Finish client packet. I'm working on a packet for clients and my goal is to finish it by the end of the month.
- Facebook likes. I want to get my likes to at least 100 on Facebook. I only need 16 more!
- Relax. I worry about everything and I've been really stressed out lately, so I need to take a few deep breaths and start fresh this month.

What are your goals for October?
