Coral is my new favorite color. And one of my current Pinterest obsessions!

Happy Friday!

I tend to be a perfectionist. If one hair on my head is out of place, I’m having a bad hair day. As you can imagine, I have a lot of bad hair days. I’m also a perfectionist when it comes to my work. I'm scared people won't accept my photography unless it's perfect. But it turns out that being perfect isn't all it’s cracked up to be. Having perfect hair or photography doesn't make it beautiful. Life is better with imperfections.

I’m not big on quotes, but I wanted to share this one. I like it so much that I might even stick it on my bathroom mirror. For all those bad hair days.

After living in Corpus Christi for almost 2 months, we still hadn't been to the beach. So this weekend we decided to fix that. The weather was perfect and the sunset was beautiful! It felt so nice to have sand between my toes! I couldn't think of a better way to start off the weekend.

After our 24th attempt at taking our own picture, we finally gave up. This was by far the most in focus, so it's close enough!

What did you do this weekend?

Today is the first day of fall. The best time of year has officially begun!

Happy fall!

Don’t you love when something happens by accident and it turns out way better than you planned? Like the other day I was driving around and accidentally turned down the wrong street, which ended up leading to a shortcut. Who knew having a bad sense of direction could actually be a good thing?

One of my favorite photos I’ve ever taken was a total accident. I absolutely love architecture and photographing old buildings. I took this photo while I was studying abroad in London:

I was trying to take an entirely different shot and didn’t realize my camera was zoomed in. Way better than the photo I had planned on taking! I was impressed with my accidental photography skills. It was by far my favorite image of the trip and is still one of my favorite images today. I’ve always been an artistic person, but that trip made me fall head over heels with photography. And I think this photo had something to do with it.

This was such a great session for my first photo shoot in Corpus. I loved working with the adorable Eliza. Babies are so fun to photograph! Pretty much anything they do is cute, so it makes my job easy. Below are a few of my favorites.

Ombré is one of my favorite trends right now. I'm totally obsessed! And convinced I need to paint a turquoise ombré wall in my house. Here is my little inspiration board to start the weekend.

Happy Friday!

Hi. My name is Emily and I'm addicted to Pinterest. There, I've said it.

But seriously, I love Pinterest. And I'm pretty sure I'm not alone. I would be ashamed if anyone knew exactly how many hours I've spent browsing pin after pin. Pinterest is a place to dream and feel creative while sitting at home in sweatpants. I also have the worst memory on the planet, so it's a great place where I can keep all of my ideas without forgetting them later on. And where else can you find a pumpkin muffin recipe and a new haircut at the same time?

So if you are a fellow pinner, here is where you can follow my pins while you are also at home sitting in your sweatpants and we can feel creative together.

There is something romantic about black and white images. They have a classic, timeless feel about them. Black and white photography is what first got me interested in being a photographer. I love beautiful colors, but black and white images just stand out. You pay more attention to the feelings and emotions of a subject than when there are bold colors distracting your eye. Changing an image from color to black and white adds a little drama, which I love. I was looking through some of my work and noticing that a lot of my favorites are black and white. Below are a few before and after images to demonstrate just why I love black and white so much.

Which is your favorite, black and white or color?

It’s amazing how fast this summer flew by. Between working full time, photographing weddings most weekends and moving across the country, I can honestly say that the past few months have been absolutely CRAZY. I have learned and grown so much from my internship with the talented Emily Koska. I feel so lucky that I got the chance to tag along to so many weddings and meet some incredible people along the way. I now have the courage to go out on my own and share my photography with the world. Thank you Emily!

Now that fall is quickly approaching, I wanted to look back on all of the weddings I’ve photographed this summer. I loved every minute of every wedding- the dresses, the flowers, the cakes. But even more, I loved getting to know each couple and sharing in their special day. I picked one of my favorite images from each wedding to recap my adventure of a summer.

 1. John & Abbey

2. Lance & Allison

3. Justin & Nicole

4. Joe & Marissa

5. Darrel & Amanda

6. Chad & Mindy

7. Bryan & Kylie

8. Ben & Megan

9. Kyle & Caroline

I can't wait for next summer!

September is here! That means cooler weather is on the way- and by cooler weather I mean anything below 100 degrees. Fall in Texas just means less hot summer. But I’ll take what I can get!

Here are my goals for September:

- Finish reading The Hangman’s Daughter. I need to find more time for reading!
- Budget. This goes for both personal and business finances.
- Work on a marketing plan. It’s a challenge getting your name out there in a brand new place, so this is the thing I need to work on the most this month!
- Start booking 2013 weddings. I want to fill my planner with wedding dates!

That’s all for now. Seeing as I didn’t even get to goal planning in August, I think 4 goals will keep me busy this month.
